Liverpool set sights on two priority deals after January bombshell – O’Rourke
Liverpool are already laying the groundwork for full-back and holding midfield signings in the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed the bombshell news on Monday (30 December) that Liverpool are increasingly likely to keep their powder dry in the January transfer window.
There is no urgency at Anfield to make something happen and they are now set to wait until the summer to improve their squad.
Liverpool sit top of the Premier League and also lead the league phase in the Champions League despite only signing Federico Chiesa in the summer.
The Reds are eight points clear of nearest rivals Nottingham Forest at the halfway point of the season and have a game in hand on Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
Manager Arne Slot had been keen to add a holding midfielder following his arrival in the summer window but Liverpool chiefs chose not to pursue alternatives after failing to land Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi.

Ryan Gravenberch has since become the undisputed first choice in defensive midfield and has started every game in the Premier League this term.
Meanwhile, the full-back areas are being monitored closely with Trent Alexander-Arnold out of contract in June and being pursued by Real Madrid.

Bayer Leverkusen ace Jeremie Frimpong has been widely mooted as a potential replacement for Alexander-Arnold, whose future is not yet decided despite reports from Spain.
Meanwhile, the form of Andy Robertson has come under scrutiny since Slot’s arrival and Fulham star Antonee Robinson is being tracked by the Reds ahead of a potential summer switch.
