Liverpool sources: New FSG plan for Mohamed Salah sale revealed with ‘agreement in place’
The Liverpool board will push to keep superstar Mohamed Salah at the club this summer amid a backdrop of upheaval at Anfield, sources have told Football Insider.
Manager Jurgen Klopp has announced he will leave the Merseysiders at the end of this season, with his entire backroom and coaching staff set to follow suit.
Sporting director Jorg Schmadtke will also leave Liverpool next month in a planned move.
However, a well-placed source has told Football Insider that club chiefs Fenway Sports Group are hoping Salah, 31, won’t be part of the upheaval at Anfield despite interest from Saudi Arabia and a precarious contract situation.
The Egypt international, who was the subject of bids from the Middle East last summer, will have just one year remaining on his Liverpool deal in June – when he turns 32.
Saudi clubs retain what sources say is a “concrete” interest in Salah and will return with more offers in the summer window as they look to get a deal for the superstar Egyptian over the line.
There are whispers from well-placed sources in the game is that the player wants to go and an agreement is already in place between him and Saudi chiefs.
But, in a new twist, Liverpool’s stance is they do not want to lose the man many consider their best player at the same time as their manager.
Salah remains in top form despite his age, scoring 18 goals and contributing nine assists across 27 games in all competitions this term.
He is currently out with a knee ligament injury he sustained on international duty with Egypt.
The legendary forward can add to the list of honours achieved with Liverpool and Klopp when the Reds face Chelsea in the League Cup final next month.
Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson and Andy Robertson are among the more senior players at Anfield who have played under Klopp for a large part of their careers.

Van Dijk has already admitted the club will have a “big job on their hands” to navigate the upheaval this summer.
Liverpool sit top of the Premier League and will play Europa League knockout stage football from March.
