Kieran Maguire: Six-figure sum headed straight to Klopp transfer kitty after deal is done
Every new Liverpool sponsorship deal is worth “at least six figures” and “adds to the size of the pot available to the manager.”
That is according to finance guru and Football Insider columnist Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively after the club announced a new arrangement with Kodansha on 21st June.
The Japanese publisher signed a multi-year deal and will work with the club “to inspire young fans” globally.
Kodansha is described by Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan as “one of the world’s largest publishers” and distributes various forms of media in 40 countries.
Maguire asserts that deals like this are doubly useful in terms of fostering interest in the club and directly boosting the bank balance.
He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “It makes sense from both a strategic and commercial point of view.

“Liverpool as a club are very keen to engage in any way, shape or form with the global fanbase that they have.
“They do have dedicated teams who are trying to break into new markets. This looks like a success for members of that particular team.
“Every new sponsorship deal they sign is worth at least six figures. It therefore adds to the size of the pot available to the manager.“
Liverpool made a pre-tax loss of £46million over the last annual accounting period.
But commercial revenue, which in this case includes sponsor fees, increased by £29m to £217m.
