Liverpool news: Medical expert reveals if Trent Alexander-Arnold will be fit for Man City showdown

Liverpool superstar Trent Alexander-Arnold will likely return from his hamstring layoff for the title showdown against Man City on 10 April.

That is the view of injury expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in medicine and data analysis.

Alexander Arnold, 23, missed Liverpool’s 1-0 FA Cup quarter-final win over Nottingham Forest last Sunday (20 March) because of his thigh issue.

As quoted by Sky Sports last Friday (18 March), Reds boss Jurgen Klopp revealed that the right-back would be out for “weeks”.

He has since pulled out of the England squad for the upcoming friendlies against Switzerland and the Ivory Coast.

Per the Daily Mail on Tuesday (22 March), the Liverpool academy graduate has now stepped up his recovery at a specialist camp in Dubai.

Dinnery predicts that Alexander-Arnold will return for the pivotal title race at the Etihad next month in a big boost for the Merseysiders.

“There’s never a great time to pick up an injury,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“But if you ask Jurgen Klopp, he’ll want there to be minimal disruption.

“The fact that Trent has got a two-week window now with nothing on as opposed to a couple of friendly internationals, that’s pleasing.

“The target will be on the Man City game. We’ll see what happens against Burnley.

“Klopp will think he’s got enough depth to cope without Trent against Burnley. But he’ll certainly think he can get him back for the City game.”

Alexander-Arnold has scored two goals and supplied an astonishing 17 assists from right-back this season.
