Liverpool star Cody Gakpo responds to four-word message from Leeds ace Joel Piroe

Liverpool’s Premier League winner Cody Gakpo has responded to a message from Joel Piroe on social media after Leeds won the Championship title.

A nervy 2-1 win over Plymouth secured Leeds the Championship title, narrowly edging out Burnley on goal difference.

Questions have been raised over Daniel Farke’s future, with the club reportedly looking at alternative options owing to his previous poor performances in the Premier League.

However, that will matter little for now with the Whites achieving their aims for the campaign, putting all memories of falling short at the final hurdle last season in the distant past.

Football Insider Verdict

The Whites look set to reward their star striker claiming the crown of being the Championship‘s top scorer by replacing him this summer.

Harsh as it may seem, Leeds have concerns that Piroe will struggle in the Premier League and are prioritising signing a striker.

The Dutchman’s tally of 19 goals is impressive, but when compared to last season, and the season before then, it would have only earnt him third-place in those charts.

Piroe has often been wasteful of some of the chances created for him, and the Premier League is unforgiving. His side will need guaranteed goals, and while the former PSV man is a finisher he can go missing from games at times.

Leeds may have some interest in signing Jamie Vardy, who is available on a free transfer this summer, as the striker still has Premier League capabilities, scoring eight times this season in a dismal Leicester side.
