Liverpool star Curtis Jones sends five-word message after shock announcement

Liverpool midfielder took to social media to share the news he had become a new father after withdrawing from the England squad.

The 23-year-old Liverpool and England star announced on Instagram that he and his partner Saffron Khan have welcomed their first child, a daughter called Giselle Delilah Jones on Tuesday (October 15).

Jones mysteriously withdrew from the England squad on Saturday (October 12) ahead of their 3-1 UEFA Nations League victory over Finland ‘Due to a personal matter’.

The central midfielder is yet to make his first senior England appearance after being an unused substitute in their shock 2-1 defeat to Greece on Thursday (October 10).

Curtis Jones still finding his feet at Liverpool

Jones has played just 150 Premier League minutes so far this season but had a starring role in their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on matchday seven.

Playing in the number ten role, he ended the game with an impressive 98 per cent pass accuracy rate, having created two open-play chances.

A big couple of weeks have culminated in the birth of his little girl, posting on Instagram to let people know why he had to withdraw from the England squad.

Jones will be hoping little Giselle is a sound sleeper as Liverpool prepare to face Chelsea in what could be one of the most important games of their season.

The Merseyside club are loving life under new manager Arne Slot, sitting top of the Premier League table with 18 points from a possible 21.
