Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah is now the best to ever play for the club and will win the Ballon d’Or, according to Richard Keys.

The Egyptian king was on-form against Man City on Sunday (23 February), scoring and assisting in a 2-0 win.

The performance came only four days after Salah delivered a player-of-the-match performance against Aston Villa.

Rodri being awarded the Ballon d’Or came as a huge shock in November, with many thinking that Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior was a guaranteed to win.

The decision to give the award to the Spaniard caused a vitriolic outburst from many in the footballing world, with Neymar hitting out at Rodri.

This year, the picture seems clearer, with Salah registering outrageous numbers under Arne Slot’s tutelage.

Speaking in his blog, Keys detailed why the former Chelsea winger was a lock for receiving football’s most prestigious individual award, saying: “Now let me make the case Salah might just be the best ever at Liverpool.

“We had Arsene Wenger is our studios again at the weekend and he said something very interesting. Well – he always says something interesting, but this was about Salah. ‘He’s better than ever’ he said. ‘This version of Salah is the best he’s been. He’s more aware of the team’.

“True. And think about that – getting better as he ages. There’s really no sign of him slowing down. He’s still doing all the things that have made him such a force down the years, but now he plays with his head up. Even Mane might enjoy playing with this version of Salah!

“Right now – Salah is the best player in the world. He’s a Ballon d’Or shoe-in. That makes him Liverpool’s best ever in my view.”

Salah is now chasing down not only Erling Haaland’s record goal tally of 36 Premier League goals, but also Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry’s shared assist record of 20.
