Liverpool stars, Henderson, Milner and Sturridge react to Alexander-Arnold’s four-word message

Trent Alexander-Arnold is already well acquainted with Real Madrid’s training regime after his switch from Liverpool.

Arne Slot was forced to say goodbye to one of the world’s best right-backs after Alexander-Arnold announced in April that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the season, after months of speculation.

The 26-year-old has since signed for Real Madrid on a free transfer in a move which has soured his legacy in the eyes of many Liverpool fans, and Alexander-Arnold was booed at Anfield as a result.

Real Madrid paid £8.4million to release Alexander-Arnold from the final weeks of his deal at Liverpool, and his debut for Los Blancos is set to come before his Anfield contract was due to end on June 30.

Alexander-Arnold sends four-word message ahead of Madrid debut

Real Madrid have made their intentions clear this summer after a disappointing campaign domestically and in the Champions League, which saw them finish as runners-up in both LaLiga and the Copa del Rey.

Alexander-Arnold’s signing was preceded by the £50million arrival of Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth, with Xabi Alonso replacing Carlo Ancelotti in the dugout and Franco Mastantuono set to join in August.

Alonso’s first opportunity of silverware comes in the form of the revamped FIFA Club World Cup, in which Madrid will begin their campaign against Al-Hilal in Miami before facing Pachuca and Red Bull Salzburg.

Alexander-Arnold took to Instagram (15 June) from Los Blancos’ training camp, and in a post liked by former Liverpool team-mates Luis Diaz, Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Daniel Sturridge among others, he said: “First day in Miami”.

Luis Diaz to follow Alexander-Arnold out of Liverpool?

Liverpool wasted no time in finding a replacement for Alexander-Arnold and triggered the £29.5million release clause required to sign Netherlands wing-back Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen.

Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez look set to follow the Dutchman to Anfield, but multiple departures are also expected this summer with the likes of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez both touted for the exit door.

Football Insider revealed on 8 June that Liverpool will only sanction the sale of Diaz if he pushes for a move himself, but with interest from Barcelona and the Saudi Pro League, he could do what Alexander-Arnold didn’t and provide a healthy transfer fee.
