Kieran Maguire: ‘Huge’ Liverpool deal on cards amid latest from India – ‘this opens so many doors’

Liverpool will “open doors” for Mukesh Ambani in his native India if he can agree a takeover deal with Fenway Sports Group.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the power of the Liverpool brand in South Asia.

Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani is one of several investors linked with a potential takeover on Merseyside.

The club showcased one of its many official supporter clubs in India as part of its We Love You Liverpool series on 25 November.

Forbes India also published an article last Wednesday (30 November) detailing why Liverpool are seen as such an attractive prospect in the country.

Maguire assessed how likely it is that the Reds’ new owners will hail from the subcontinent.

“Indian investment in Liverpool can not be ruled out,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“It is a huge market and Indian billionaires have seen the success of the IPL as a franchise sport.

“They are also fully aware that, while cricket is the world’s second most popular sport, it is second by a long way to football.

Liverpool

“Liverpool open all kinds of doors. They have a gigantic following all around the world. Therefore, it would make it easier to sign deals with Indian commercial partners.

“That would be a significant financial boost for the club. Also, it would increase the kudos of the owner themself.”

In other news, pundit suggest Mohamed Salah “could be the one to go” as Liverpool linked with unexpected signing.
