Sadio Mane is in contention to start for Liverpool in tonight’s crucial Merseyside FA Cup fixture, even though the Senegalese forward has flown to Africa and back in 24 hours, according to a report.
The Liverpool Echo claims that Mane flew with team mate Mo Salah to Ghana on Thursday in order to take part in the African Player of the Year awards ceremony, and remarkably flew straight back the very next day.
But, they also state that Mane has taken part in “light training” today as Liverpool prepare to face local rivals Everton in the third round of the FA Cup at Anfield.
Although the electrifying forward played and scored on Monday, he has been given the go ahead to participate in tonight’s fixture – and Liverpool will need him to be at his best as Salah and Coutinho are both out.
Fans will be quick to remember the last time Everton came to Anfield, as Mane had the chance to grab all three points for the Reds, but went for goal rather than passing to a wide open Oxlaide-Chamberlin who had a tap in.
Liverpool’s hopes of continuing their FA Cup run will definitely have improved if the 25-year-old star is able to play.
In other Liverpool news, one Premier League club has held talks with Liverpool about taking a 25-year-old striker on loan.
