Kieran Maguire: Liverpool set for ‘significant revenue gains’ after big-ticket sponsor reveal
Liverpool are in line for “significant revenue gains” following their sponsorship renewal with EA Sports.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the deal was announced on Monday (21 February).
The pair have signed a “long-term” contract to continue the creation of “bespoke and engaging content for Reds to enjoy across the globe.”
The Merseysiders first became involved with the video game giants, who produce the FIFA game series, in 2019.
Liverpool earned £217million from commercial revenue streams in 2020-21 and recently re-appointed Ben Latty as their chief commercial officer.
And the EA Sports deal will see the club further boost their profits in the lucrative esports industry, claims Maguire.
“Esports is an evergrowing area,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“We see clubs trying to capitalise on the opportunities involved in a number of different ways. Sponsorship is clearly one of those.
“As far as Liverpool are concerned, they’re looking to push the envelope when it comes to commercial. There will be significant revenue gains involved.
“There had been talks about EA Sports ditching the ‘FIFA’ name. But if they have got the big clubs individual clubs like Liverpool, that’s all they need.”

Liverpool, who are currently second in the Premier League, posted a total loss of £4.8million in the last recorded financial year.
They also recently announced a new commercial deal with cloud storage specialists Wasabi.
