Liverpool to make first transfer move ‘this week’ – Keith Wyness

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed he expects Liverpool to make their first move in the summer transfer window “this week”.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed Arne Slot will have been working closely with football executive Michael Edwards and former boss Jurgen Klopp on what is needed to move the Reds forward.

Liverpool are yet to make their first signing of the summer window following Slot’s arrival at Anfield earlier this month.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (24 July) that the Reds are working on bringing in a wide forward, centre-back and a defensive midfielder.

Joel Matip, Thiago and Adrian all departed Anfield at the end of their contracts last month.

Liverpool deals imminent with Arne Slot settled in, says Wyness

Wyness claimed “action” in the market is imminent after a quiet start to the window.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think we’ll see some action this week from Liverpool.

“Slot has had the time to sit with Edwards and his team now, they’ll have done their pontification.

“He’s had a chance to see what he’s got in the squad, he’s had a chance to see the facilities, he’ll understand it.

“He’ll also have spoken to Klopp, I’d imagine. His backroom staff will be in place.

“Slot has had the time now, so I expect to see some action very soon.”
