Liverpool to sack Arne Slot after ‘unbelievable’ twist? Expert reaction
Arne Slot is facing “serious questions” over his position at Liverpool as a result of their dreadful run of form
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Slot is not under immediate sack pressure, but must turn around recent results.
Liverpool lost 3-0 to Nottingham Forest at Anfield last time out, meaning they have now lost six of their last seven Premier League games, and have plummeted to 11th.
Football Insider revealed last month that Slot is not under immediate pressure at Liverpool, but frustrations have started to grow behind the scenes.
Fans are also beginning to turn on the manager, with questions asked about his decision-making and tactical setup after a dramatic change from last season’s success.

Questions asked of Arne Slot after Liverpool disaster
Brown told Football Insider on 11 November that Slot is under pressure at Liverpool despite having plenty of credit in the bank from last season’s title win.
The former scout, who has a wealth of experience working closely alongside elite-level managers including Sir Alex Ferguson after over a decade at Man United, has insisted Slot will now face questions about his position at Anfield.
“It’s a strange situation and they’re desperately looking for reasons,” he told Football Insider.
“Quite often when things go wrong like this, the reasons are clear, players are making mistakes or something like that, but that’s not been the case.
“So ultimately the finger gets pointed at the manager, because six defeats from their last seven games is bordering on unbelievable in all honesty.
“Serious questions are going to be asked, because how long can this go on for?
“I don’t think they’ll be considering sacking him at the moment, but then how long do you give him?
“He’s obviously got credit in the bank there from last season, but what if it’s then eight, nine, ten games and they’re still not picking up wins? Then they might have to make a decision.
“You can’t put your finger on a reason Liverpool are going through this spell, and the players are to blame as well, but the manager is always the one who takes the blame.”
Liverpool set sights on defensive reinforcements
Brown told Football Insider on 10 November that Liverpool are working on signing a new centre-back in January to sure up their defensive options.
Slot’s side have conceded 20 goals in 12 league games so far this season and have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven Premier League outings.
Meanwhile, Giovanni Leoni suffered a major injury, leaving the Reds with little cover at the back, amid claims Ibrahima Konate is edging closer to leaving Liverpool.

Marc Guehi remains Liverpool’s top target, while they are also considering a number of options including Aston Villa star Ezri Konsa as they weigh up multiple targets.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 21 November that Liverpool could accelerate a move for Guehi in the January transfer window.
