‘Liverpool to sign perfect Alexander-Arnold replacement’ – fans wowed

Liverpool fans have urged the club to sign a new right-back following a fresh update on one of their reported targets, amid growing certainty over Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future.

The Reds are expected to be in the market for a new full-back after Alexander-Arnold confirmed he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

The news marks the end of an era for the club, with the academy graduate set to join Real Madrid aftre months of speculation surrounding his future.

Several players, including Mohamed Salah, sent farewell messages to Alexander-Arnold as tributes poured in. His departure will be a significant loss for Arne Slot’s side — the 26-year-old has made 42 appearances this season, scoring four goals and providing eight assists across all competitions.

However, it appears the club are already working on finding a replacement, with a fresh update suggesting Liverpool are actively pursuing options to fill the void left by the England international.

Jeremie Frimpong is ‘keen’ on Liverpool move

David Ornstein of The Athletic has named Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong as a potential target for Liverpool as they prepare for life after Alexander-Arnold. Speaking on NBC Sports, Ornstein revealed that Frimpong would be open to the move.

He said: “There are players potentially on the market, like a Jeremie Frimpong. He has a €35 million (£29.6 m) release clause.

“He would be keen on a move to Liverpool if they decide to go down that route…”

Football Insider first reported back in March that Liverpool were monitoring Frimpong as a possible successor to Alexander-Arnold. The Dutch right-back has caught the eye with consistently impressive performances under Xabi Alonso at Bayer Leverkusen.

Frimpong, a graduate of Manchester City’s academy, has produced 12 assists so far this season, following up a remarkable 2023/24 campaign where he tallied 26 goal contributions.

His attacking threat from full-back has made him a sought-after player, with Manchester United also reportedly showing interest in Frimpong.

During the last international break, Liverpool fans became convinced a deal for Frimpong could be in the works after footage circulated of him joking around with Virgil van Dijk in the Netherlands dressing room.

The chemistry between the two raised hopes that their national team connection could soon be replicated at club level.

Supporters have since called on the Reds to act quickly. One fan commented, “I need him at Liverpool… Please go and sign him,” while another added, “Perfect Trent replacement imo.”
