Liverpool told the ‘time is now’ to sign Bellingham after source’s talks update – pundit

Kevin Phillips has claimed “the time is now” for Liverpool to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the 2000 European Golden Shoe winner urged the Reds to seal a deal for the 18-year-old now so he can learn from Jordan Henderson.

Bellingham has shone since moving from Birmingham City to Dortmund in July 2020.

As revealed by Football Insider last Wednesday (22 December), Dortmund are in talks with the attacking midfielder regarding a contract extension.

The Bundesliga giants are also understood to be targeting a move for Bellingham’s younger brother, Jobe, to sweeten the deal.

Liverpool are one of a number of elite clubs chasing the England international’s signature.

When asked for his thoughts on Bellingham, Phillips Football Insider: “I think he would be the natural successor to Jordan.

“Bringing him in at this stage would be perfect because Jordan is still there and still at the top of his game. Bellingham could learn a lot from being around him. To come and learn off Jordan, given his ability and leadership skills, would be invaluable.

“He would develop so much being in and around those Liverpool players. The time is now to bring him in.

“He has been amazing for Dortmund and has broken into the England squad. He’d fit into that Jurgen Klopp side, no problem whatsoever.”
