Liverpool told to ‘break all the rules’ after source update on Salah talks – pundit

Frank McAvennie has told Liverpool to do whatever it takes to make sure Mo Salah signs a new contract.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, can’t believe a deal hasn’t been agreed.

This site revealed (11 December) that the Reds are increasingly hopeful of agreeing new terms with Salah, 29, despite his £500,000-a-week wage demands.

A Liverpool source told Football Insider negotiations are “tricky” and at a “delicate stage” but there is hope a compromise can be reached.

The Egypt captain has just 18 months left on his current deal.

McAvennie claims Salah is so important to Liverpool they should “break all the rules” to make sure he signs fresh terms.

“How long are we going to be talking about this?” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He’s the best player in the world, give him what he wants. It’s just that simple.

“This is someone you break all the rules for. If you have rules on wage structure, break them. He’s that good. Just look at his record this season.

“Some things in football are complicated. This just isn’t. Pay the man what he wants or he will leave for someone who will.

“I don’t even want to imagine what will happen in Liverpool if Salah is allowed to leave.

“We were speaking about this two or three months ago and nothing has happened,

“I just don’t get that, this should be really simple.”
