Liverpool told to complete £120m Salah deal after inside source’s FSG update – pundit

A new contract for Mohamed Salah worth £117million would be “money well spent” by Liverpool, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker insisted Salah is the “best player in the world at the moment” and is almost irreplaceable for Liverpool.

A Reds source told Football Insider on Saturday (11 December) the club are increasingly confident of securing their talisman to a new deal.

Liverpool

This site revealed earlier this year (25 October) the winger, 29, wants a four-and-half year deal worth £500,000-a-week.

That is the equivalent to a mega £117million across the entirety of the contract.

His current deal at Anfield is set to expire at the end of next season.

“If there’s one player you spend that money on, it’s Mo Salah,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He deserves every penny. He’s the best player in the Premier League, and for me, he’s the best player in the world at the moment. It’s money well spent by Liverpool.

“The football that he plays, the goals that he scores, he doesn’t look like he’s slowing down.

“It’s going to cost you £100million to get someone who is not even as good as Mo Salah. For me, it’s a no brainer.

“Liverpool know that if they don’t give it to him, someone else will give it to him.”

Salah scored his 21st goal in his 22nd appearance of the season in Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Aston Villa at the weekend.

The Egypt star now has 146 goals in 225 games across all competitions for the club.
