Liverpool told to complete Marc Guehi pre-agreement or be gazumped
Marc Guehi could end up snubbing Liverpool for an alternative offer after his move to Anfield fell through.
Guehi had looked set to join the Merseyside club, and had even completed his medical before Palace called the deal off.
The South London side were unable to find a replacement for their captain and blocked the transfer at the last moment.
Football Insider has revealed that Liverpool are likely to go back in for Guehi in January, with his price tag expected to be around the £25m mark.
However, Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that the defender could still end up rejecting the Reds in favour of another offer.

Marc Guehi could sign new contract at Crystal Palace
This article contains exclusive comment from Keith Wyness, former Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen CEO.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that there is still a chance that Guehi could sign a new contract at Crystal Palace.
The centre-back’s current deal runs out next summer, which would leave him available on a free transfer.
However, Wyness thinks that Palace will offer him an extension, and it is not beyond the realms of possibility that he accepts.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “It’s not beyond the wit of man to say that he could go on to stay at Palace. There could be a new contract offered.
“I don’t know. He seems reasonably happy there, he scored at the weekend. He’s a lovely guy and a very good player.
“I think he’ll want that move eventually, and I think it still could happen in January. It may not be the cut price bargain and everything, just because there’s only six months left. He is a sought-after commodity, and it may go to £25m or £30m, but I don’t think it’ll go much lower because there’ll be too much competition.
“It’ll be an auction for his services. So if Liverpool want to tie him up, they better move pretty quickly to get that agreed, and see if they can get some sort of pre-agreement with Palace now.”

Liverpool to slow spending down
Meanwhile, Liverpool are unlikely to continue their astonishing summer spending at the same rate in upcoming transfer windows, sources have told Football Insider.
The Merseyside club have broken the British transfer record twice over the past couple of months, and accrued a total outlay of around £450million this summer.
Florian Wirtz became the most expensive Premier League signing of all time after making an £116million switch from Bayer Leverkusen, before that was eclipsed by Alexander Isak’s £125m move to Anfield.
However, sources say that the Reds will not be as frivolous with their spending in January or next summer, and that this window was an outlier.
