Liverpool told to sign Jude Bellingham and 'top striker' after source's double update - pundit

Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Liverpool to sign a “top midfielder” as well as a “top striker” this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker suggested Jude Bellingham would be an ideal signing for the Reds.

A recruitment source told Football Insider on Monday (9 May) that Liverpool have registered their interest in Aurelien Tchouameni after learning Monaco are ready to cash in on the midfielder this summer.

It comes after a recruitment source told this site last month (23 April) that Borussia Dortmund have informed the Merseyside giants that Bellingham is not for sale this summer.

But Agbonlahor has insisted they need to sign a midfielder of similar quality if they want to keep up with Man City who confirmed on Tuesday (10 May) that Erling Haaland is set to join the club.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I think they need a top midfielder like Bellingham and they need a top striker.

“Apart from that they are good to go. They need two big signings, two top signings.

“The striker position, the way they play it can work without one.

“But against Spurs, they missed a striker. Trent Alexander-Arnold was putting in a lot of crosses that were defended easily. They needed a striker in there so the ball can be played up to him and he holds it up.

“You can get away with it for a certain amount of time. Look at Man City, they’ve noticed they can do well without a striker but they need one in there now.

“Liverpool definitely need to bring in two players in this summer if they want to compete.”
