Liverpool to battle big spending Premier League rivals for £50m German ace -report

By Coral Barry

Liverpool are interested in signing Wolfsburg’s £50million-rated winger Julian Draxler, according to a report.

The German international has enjoyed an excellent Euro 2016 with his country and has put himself back in the shop window after a big money move to Wolfsburg last summer.

French magazine France Football, via the Daily Express, claim Liverpool have entered the race, but will have to fend off interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.

United have already spent £30million on defender Eric Bailly as well as welcoming Zlatan Ibrahimovic to the club.

More big money arrivals are expected at Old Trafford in the coming weeks with Jose Mourinho continuing to put his stamp on the squad as the new manager.

Arsenal have also spent big in the market with Granit Xhaka costing the Gunners somewhere in the region of £30million.

It has been widely reported that Arsene Wenger is also on the look-out for a top striker this summer.

However, Liverpool are no strangers to a hefty transfer fee after spending £34million on Southampton’s Sadio Mane and it is claimed Wolfsburg will not listen to any offer below £50million for their star.

Despite the report, Draxler signed a five-year deal after a £25.5million move last summer and Wolfsburg have already issued a hands off warning to potential suitors.

Club sporting director Klaus Allofs said that Wolfsburg will always listen to offers, but that policy does not apply to Draxler or his sought after teammate Andre Schurrle.

In other Liverpool news, the Reds have inserted two clauses into the contract of their sought after attacker.
