Liverpool star Van Dijk reacts to Denzel Dumfries’ ‘proud’ Inter message
Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has reacted to Denzel Dumfries’ message after Inter’s Champions League final defeat.
Dumfries played a key role in helping the Serie A giants reach the Champions League final by notching two goals and three assists in 12 appearances in the competition.
However, the Netherlands international could not prevent the San Siro side from suffering a 5-0 defeat to PSG on Saturday, 31 May.
Inter will start next season with a new manager at the helm following Simone Inzaghi’s departure.

Liverpool ace Van Dijk reacts as Dumfries makes ‘hard’ Inter admission
Both Van Dijk and Dumfries have earned their spot in the latest Netherlands squad, while Ronald Koeman’s men are set to take on Finland on Saturday, 7 June.
Meanwhile, the Inter man took the opportunity to reflect on his season via Instagram on 3 June as he wrote: “It’s hard to look back at what’s happened, but super proud of the team and staff.
“Unfortunately, it did not become what we wanted, but we will always be together.
“I want to thank everyone for the support. Go Inter all the way.”
Dumfries’ international teammate Van Dijk gave the post a like alongside the likes of Liverpool’s new signing Jeremie Frimpong.
Harvey Elliott set for Serie A move as Liverpool exit looms
While Van Dijk has reacted to Dumfries’ message following the fullback’s fourth season in Inter colours, Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Harvey Elliott is likely to join a Serie A club if he leaves Liverpool this summer.

The 22-year-old made just two Premier League starts for Arne Slot’s men this season, and could now be intent on enjoying more game time elsewhere.
However, Elliott rejected a potential move to Nottingham Forest, even though the East Midlands club will be keen to bolster their ranks after sealing Conference League qualification thanks to their largely successful Premier League campaign.
Florian Wirtz’s imminent move to Liverpool will move the England Under-21 international further down Slot’s pecking order, while the Dutchman already prefers Dominik Szoboszlai.
Should Elliott move to Serie A, he will hope to enjoy similar success to that of Scott McTominay, who played a vital role in Napoli’s title-winning campaign after joining Antonio Conte’s side from Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Ian Darke exclusively told Liverpool News that Frimpong is not guaranteed a place in Slot’s starting lineup next term.
