Liverpool are prepared to bid for Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe if he wants to move to England, according to a report.

The Times claim that the Reds will move for the 18-year-old striker if he is keen to leave Ligue 1 and move to the Premier League.

It is understood that the Merseyside club have previously registered an interest in the France international and are in the running for his signature.

The report details that Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is in personal contact with Mbappe to try secure a deal, while Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has also made contact.

Liverpool could go ahead and rival the Gunners in a bidding war if England becomes a likely destination.

Mbappe rose to fame last season after a brilliant goalscoring campaign with French champions, netting 26 times in 44 appearances across all competitions.

The forward has quickly become one of the most highly rated talents in world football and is being tipped for greatness.

He helped Monaco clinch the Ligue 1 title last year ahead of rivals Paris Saint-Germain and also reached the Champions League semi-finals.

Football Insider verdict:

Liverpool appear reluctant to submit a bid until the future of Mbappe becomes clearer and that makes sense as it could take a world-record offer to wrap up a deal. The 18-year-old appears to have all the tools to become a world-class striker and was phenomenal last season. He made a great impact in the Champions League and his direct approach makes him a nightmare for defenders. The Frenchman is blessed with great pace too and would be a good fit for the Premier League. However, the temptation of a switch to Real Madrid could cause too big and he could become the next Galactio signing. Liverpool should make an opening offer for Mbappe if their interest is genuine as it would be a huge signal to their rivals if they signed him.

In other Liverpool transfer news, they have made an emphatic decision over an approach for their 23-year-old.
