Liverpool well placed to agree multiple signings after double breakthrough – sources

Liverpool have been handed a huge boost in the transfer market after Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk agreed to sign new contracts.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that keeping their best players at the club will help attract more top-tier players to the club in the transfer window.

This comes after Salah put pen to paper on a new contract which will keep him at Anfield until 2027, in a huge boost to Arne Slot’s side.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed that Van Dijk will sign a deal with Liverpool in the coming weeks as they are edging towards a full agreement.

Now that their contract issues are out of the way, the Reds are preparing to strengthen their squad across a number of positions and are already putting plans in place.

Liverpool eye big summer transfer window after deals agreed

Liverpool would have been dealt a huge blow by losing Salah, Van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold in the same window and were desperate to avoid the worst-case scenario.

The latter is expected to join Real Madrid in the summer, but keeping both of their other superstar players has set Slot up for another strong season.

With the Premier League title now all but won, their attentions can turn towards next season when they will look to remain competitive across all competitions.

Football Insider revealed Liverpool want to sign a centre-back and a right-back, while Slot wants a world-class replacement for their exit-linked attacking stars.

The midfield has also been a long-term target for improvement at Anfield after they missed out on a move to sign Arsenal-linked Martin Zubimendi last summer.

Alexander Isak update emerges after Salah contract agreement

As part of Liverpool’s ambitious plans in the wake of Salah and Van Dijk’s contract agreement, Liverpool remain firmly in the running for Newcastle star Alexander Isak.

Brown told Football Insider earlier this month that Newcastle’s talks over a new contract for Isak have stalled amid constant whispers about a move away.

The Sweden international is expected to cost around £150million, but remains the top target as Slot views him as the perfect striker.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider that Newcastle have identified Ipswich star Liam Delap as the ideal replacement for Isak should he make the move to Anfield.
