Liverpool young star Ben Woodburn has been rocked by the news that Wales youth coach Geraint Williams will not be renewing his contract, according to a report.
The Sun has claimed that the young forward could now consider his international future after the departure of the Under-21s manager.
The 17-year-old has rose to fame this season after making his Premier League debut in November before scoring his first senior goal just three days later in the EFL Cup against Leeds.
He has so far represented Wales up to Under-19 level, but his performances in the Reds’ senior team has caught the interest of rivals England.
The report states that Williams and assistant David Hughes played a huge part in getting the Chester-born player to switch allegiance to Wales.
However, their departures have now left Woodburn with a decision to make regarding his international career.
It is stated that the teenager is seen as a future star for manager Gareth Southgate and he could switch national teams if the Three Lions come calling.
England have gone under a lot of changes since the Euro’s with Roy Hodgson leaving his role as manager before Sam Allardyce lost his job due to a Telegraph investigation.
On the other side, Wales enjoyed a very successful campaign under Chris Coleman at the summer tournament and they will be looking to push on from their semi-final finish.
