Liverpool’s first January transfer revealed as defender spotted signing contract
Liverpool have completed their first new signing of the January transfer window.
The Reds have endured a turbulent campaign so far in 2025-26, as inconsistent form in the Premier League has seen Arne Slot’s position at the helm come under scrutiny on several occasions.
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider earlier this week that Liverpool’s inability to see out games is a major concern for Slot, and they currently sit fourth after back-to-back draws.
The Merseysiders will be targeting the January window to provide a boost to their squad ahead of the second half of the season, and they have already got their first deal over the line.

Liverpool confirm Noah Adekoya signing
Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson recently told Football Insider that FSG could bankroll a big spend at Liverpool once again this month, if ways of improving the squad can be identified.
Many had expected the Anfield outfit to have something of a quieter window after they spent big on the likes of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz in the summer, but that may no longer prove to be the case.
The Reds look set to battle Manchester City for Marc Guehi once again, while they are also showing a sustained interest in Brighton defender Jan Paul van Hecke.
Neither of those acquisitions would be likely to come with a cheap fee attached, but the first signing of Liverpool’s window has actually come in much more modest fashion.
The Premier League giants have completed the signing of Burnley U21 defender Noah Adekoya, who confirmed his arrival at Anfield by posting a photo of himself signing his contract on Instagram.
The 19-year-old accompanied the post with the caption: “God’s plan.”
Who is Noah Adekoya?
Ibrahima Konate’s uncertain future at Liverpool is providing plenty of concern over the immediate future of the centre-back role at Anfield, but they may have just secured a new long-term star in the position.
Adekoya has completed his move from another Premier League academy at Turf Moor, after signing his first professional contract with Burnley in October.
That deal was due to expire next summer, and with the Liverpool-born starlet yet to make his senior debut for the Clarets, the Reds have opted to swoop in and secure his signature.
The youngster is adept with both feet, and captained Burnley’s U18s side to the league title in their U18 Professional Development League North campaign last term.
Adekoya has joined the youth ranks at Anfield, and everyone at Liverpool is sure to have a keen eye on his progression in the coming years.
