Liverpool’s stance on Dominik Szoboszlai deal revealed

Liverpool are relaxed about Dominik Szoboszlai’s future and believe that he will remain at Anfield beyond this summer despite talk of a possible move to Real Madrid.

Szoboszlai has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season, and his form has alerted Real Madrid to his potential availability this summer.

The 25-year-old’s contract at Anfield does not expire until 2028, but Liverpool have been locked in talks to agree a new deal over the last few months.

Madrid are tracking Szoboszlai and admire his talents, but any move to sign him still looks unlikely ahead of next season, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast.

Liverpool calm about Dominik Szoboszlai to Real Madrid links

The Hungary international midfielder has registered 10 goals and seven assists in 35 appearances for Liverpool this season, including long-range free-kicks against both Arsenal and Man City.

Arne Slot’s side have dropped off this season compared to the last, but the club remain relaxed about Szoboszlai’s future, given his contract length and the huge fee it would take to prise him from Anfield.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Yeah, I think Liverpool’s stance right now is that they’re not concerned about these links with Real Madrid.

“Obviously there is the usual fanfare that surrounds a player that is in form, that maybe Real Madrid could be interested in Szoboszlai.

“The club are doing everything they can to try and sign a new contract with the Hungarian.”

Alexander Isak deal has left Anthony Gordon to Liverpool in doubt

Isak joined Liverpool from Newcastle for a huge £125million fee last summer, but has only scored three goals in 16 appearances and is in the midst of a lengthy injury layoff.

His struggles mean that the club are now planning to be more cautious in their spending this summer, and so a move for his former teammate Gordon could be off the table.

The England winger has been a long-time target of the Reds, but Newcastle are set to demand around £100m for his services this summer.

Liverpool will not be willing to pay such a hefty figure to the Magpies once more, and so unless they can agree a cut-price deal, Gordon looks unlikely to move back to Merseyside.
