A Tottenham official has revealed that Mauricio Pochettino is the best manager he has worked with during his lengthy service at White Hart Lane.
The senior Spurs figure said he had no hesitation in placing Pochettino ahead of predecessors including Harry Redknapp, Martin Jol and Juande Ramos.
“Mauricio is the best manager I have worked with since I’ve been here,” the official told Football Insider. “He understands and is interested in all aspects of the club. To be honest, he is head and shoulders above the rest.”
The long-serving staff member, who has been at the club for over a decade, has worked in tandem with first-team managers stretching back to David Pleat and also including Hoddle, Jacques Santini, Jol, Ramos, Redknapp, Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood.
Pochettino was appointed by Spurs in the summer of 2014 after an impressive spell at Southampton.
The Argentine guided the north Londoners to fifth place in the Premier League in his first season and has taken the team to another level in his second campaign as they stand well placed for a genuine title challenge.
Tottenham are fourth in the table on 42 points, five points behind leaders Leicester and, significantly, five ahead of Manchester United in fifth position.
Significantly, Spurs also have the youngest team in the top flight and Pochettino has showed great faith in the emerging stars at his disposal, including Harry Kane, Delle Alli, Eric Dier, Danny Rose and Ryan Mason.
