'Looks a bit off today' - Lord Sugar pointed the finger at Tottenham 24-year-old v Stoke City

Tottenham beat Stoke City 2-1 in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon but Lord Alan Sugar wasn’t impressed with the performance of Harry Kane.

The former Spurs supremo went on Twitter to give his opinion on the England international and wrote, “Harry Kane looks a bit off today. Now I said that he will go on to score 4.”

The Lillywhites went to the Brittania Stadium expecting all three points against one of the league’s relegation candidates and that was exactly what they got.

And it was Kane’s first start since the 2-0 win against Huddersfield in the middle of March and a subsequent ankle injury, so it wasn’t a surprise to hear that the 24-year-old wasn’t at his best.

The Lillywhites took the lead after the break when Dele Alli, with the ball glued to his feet, danced into the penalty area, laying off to Christian Eriksen who found the back of the net.

The Potters then scored a surprise equaliser through Mame Diouf, only for Spurs to once again resume control through Eriksen, although Kane tried to claim it.

Football Insider verdict:

It’s no surprise that Kane wasn’t 100% having just come back from injury. But nonetheless it’s another three points for Spurs. There should not be an expectation of the 24-year-old to play at his optimum week in/week out as that would be impossible for any player to produce. This means there will be games where Kane will “look a bit off” but he remains one of, if not the best striker in the world.
