Colin Mafham has ripped into West Ham over their decision to hire David Moyes, questioning whether the club have “lost the plot.”
Mafham in his latest column for the Daily Express has held nothing back when commenting on West Ham hiring Moyes.
He wrote: “Am I missing something here, but how many of you are wondering if West Ham have just lost the plot big time?
“I get it that something probably needed to be done about the pickle they’re in right now.
“But David Moyes?”
Moyes was confirmed as West Ham manager on Tuesday following the dismissal of Slaven Bilic on Monday.
The Hammers currently sit 18th in the Premier League, just inside the relegation zone after a disappointing start to the season.
Out of the first 11 league games played, West Ham have only acquired nine points, winning only two games.
This is despite several big name summer signings with Premier League experience being made, like Javier Hernandez and Pablo Zabaleta.
The Hammers haven’t won any of their last four league games, and in this time have suffered heavy defeats, the last game under Bilic saw them lose 4-1 to Liverpool.
Under Bilic, West Ham did manage to pull off an upset over Tottenham on October 25, knocking them out of the League Cup.
West Ham came from behind to win the Tottenham game 3-2.
Moyes’ first game in charge of the Hammers will be after the international break on Sunday November 19 when West Ham take on ninth placed Watford at Vicarage Road.
This is Moyes’ first managerial position since leaving Sunderland in May 2017.
In other West Ham news, the club are reportedly willing to sell these players to fund Moyes’ January transfer kitty.
