Lothar Matthaus has predicted Tottenham to beat Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League clash on Wednesday.
Spurs host the Bundesliga side at Wembley in the opening group match and will be looking to make a good start.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are without a win in their opening two matches this season at temporary home Wembley, but will be looking to end that streak in Europe.
They have made a decent start to the new league campaign and beat Everton away in convincing fashion 3-0 on Saturday, while Dortmund are currently top of the German top flight.
Germany World Cup winner Matthaus has tipped Spurs to win 2-1 in the mid-week clash and believes Harry Kane will be a real threat.
“Harry Kane is quick and physical and can get the better of the Dortmund centre-backs if he plays on the shoulder,” Matthaus told the Sun. “I like Harry and how he plays — not just his goals but his attitude. He has confidence in his ability to hurt teams.”
Spurs met Dortmund in the 2015/16 Europa League campaign knockout rounds and were heavily defeated 5-1 on aggregate.
However, Pochettino’s side have continue to develop since then and are competing at the top end of the Premier League.
They may be looking for some revenge when they host Dortmund on Wednesday night, but they also have games against Real Madrid and Apoel Nicosia in their group to contend with.
In other Tottenham news, Harry Kane has been blown away by one of the club’s summer signings.
