Love It - Exclusive: Ex-Rangers star buzzing with what he's heard from Ryan Kent

Alan Hutton has been left buzzing after hearing what Ryan Kent had to say about his performance for Rangers against Aberdeen.

The former Gers and Scotland defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, lauded the 24-year-old for speaking about trying to improve despite putting in a “9 out of 10” performance against the Dons.

Speaking to Rangers TV after the 4-0 win over Aberdeen, Kent admitted he was “annoyed” he passed up a good goalscoring opportunity and that he wanted to continue getting into “dangerous areas” to up his tally for the season.

The mercurial winger netted his sixth goal of the season against Derek McInnes’ men, while he also has chipped in with a further seven assists in his 20 appearances.

Hutton admitted it was great to hear Kent talk about improving himself despite putting in top-class displays and suggested Steven Gerrard would be just as thrilled.

Hutton told Football Insider: “I really like listening to him speaking – he always wants to give more, he always wants to do better, he’s not happy with what he’s done.

“We’re talking about performances that are a 9 out of 10 and he still thinks he should be doing better, that he should be scoring more goals, more assists.

“You see from either a manager’s or a fan’s point of view, I mean it’s just so good to hear, he’s so grounded and down to earth and he just wants to keep improving.

“It just shows you what kind of boy he is that he wants to just keep learning and get better. He’s definitely on the right track to hit the high levels, that’s for sure.”

Kent told Rangers TV: “I was quite annoyed at myself today that I didn’t put the first one away but I managed to make up for it with a good goal. As long as I keep getting into dangerous areas and adding numbers it’s all I can do.

“We are building on the chemistry in training every week and there are a number of players who can play in any position and you can see that every week. It’s pleasing on the eye.”
