Michael Brown has been left buzzing after Jose Mourinho revealed he would name a strong Tottenham side for the FA Cup tie against Marine on Sunday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs midfielder could not hide his excitement at the prospect of a non-league team playing host to a Premier League outfit at their home ground.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Mourinho confirmed he would include just one under-18s player in his 20-man squad, with the other 19 all set to be established first-team stars.
The Portuguese boss suggested Gareth Bale could make his return from injury against the non-league outfit with the Wales international having confirmed his desire to feature if fit.
Brown has admitted he loves to see top teams come up against significantly smaller clubs and insisted it would be a “special” day for the Marine players.
Brown told Football Insider: “I think if you look at the Spurs squad, there are a couple of starters, they’re maybe a couple light, but they’ve got a really good squad of similar players.
“I think at that point they can put together a very strong squad as we’ve seen in the Europa League. I expect changes but I think what will suit them is they can be a little bit hardy, they can go and get going.
“I think it’ll just be a really special tie, it’s brilliant with Marine, Mourinho going there, I just think it’s brilliant.
“I love it, these type of ties and that’s what all these Marine players play every week for, to play against these players. You get one of these every so often and it’s amazing.”
