Lucas Digne responds to Youri Tielemans message after Aston Villa development

Youri Tielemans reacted to a heartfelt message after reaching an international milestone during his time away from Aston Villa.

Tielemans had an impressive campaign at Villa Park, despite the side narrowly missing out on a Champions League place.

The Belgian midfielder was a key figure for Unai Emery and registered 15 goal contributions in all competitions, scoring five goals and providing ten assists.

However, questions remain over his long-term future at the club. Football Insider revealed Aston Villa could be forced to sell Tielemans this summer due to financial pressures following their failure to secure a Champions League spot.

But while speculation over his club future continues, the 28-year-old had cause to celebrate while away as he reached a milestone.

Aston Villa mark two years with Youri Tielemans

Tielemans shared a highlight package from Aston Villa’s official account on his Instagram story, captioned: “Two years of Youri at Aston Villa” to mark the anniversary of his signing.

He also liked the post, alongside Lucas Digne, who showed his appreciation for the tribute.

The former Leicester midfielder has been a key figure for Villa this season and was recognised for his outstanding performances, as Tielemans was named Aston Villa’s Player of the Year.

He is now just one appearance away from reaching 100 games for the club, having scored eight goals and provided 18 assists across all competitions.

Whilst Tielemans was linked with a move away from Aston Villa with interest from Saudi Arabia, it remains uncertain whether Villa will cash in on the Belgian midfielder this summer.

Although financial concerns linger at Villa Park, the club are still keen to strengthen their squad this summer.

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 30 June that Aston Villa have made a preliminary approach for Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson.

This follows reports that Aston Villa are open to offers for Ollie Watkins amid concerns over his role in the team last season.

As for Jackson, Emery is believed to be a big admirer of the former Villarreal striker, where the two worked together.

With Chelsea close to signing Joao Pedro and having already brought in Liam Delap, Jackson’s future at Stamford Bridge looks increasingly uncertain, making a move to Aston Villa a very real possibility.
