
Lucas Digne shares Aston Villa promise after Crystal Palace embarrassment
Aston Villa were hammered on Tuesday (25 February) as their Champions League aspirations were derailed by Crystal Palace.
Unai Emery’s side were comfortably defeated 4-1 at Selhurst Park after a brace from Ismaila Sarr and goals by Jean-Philippe Mateta and Eddie Nketiah.
Morgan Rogers had drawn Palace level at 1-1 in the 52nd minute, but it proved to be a second half to forget for Villa.
Robin Olsen had to replace Emiliano Martinez for the second half, and the second-choice goalkeeper struggled to adjust as he conceded a trio of goals.
The defeat had a significant impact on Villa’s Premier League table position as the club sank to 10th in the table.
Villa will be back in action on Friday (28 February) against Cardiff City in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
