Lucas Paqueta and Emerson respond to Mohammed Kudus’ West Ham farewell message

West Ham players were active on social media in response to Mohammed Kudus’ goodbye message to supporters.

Kudus completed a move to Tottenham last week for a fee lower than his release clause, following weeks of speculation surrounding his future.

The decision sparked backlash among fans, as West Ham supporters criticised Kudus for joining one of their London rivals.

It was a mixed season for the Ghanaian, who managed five goals and four assists in 35 appearances across all competitions. Still, he proved to be a versatile and unpredictable presence in attack, operating across multiple positions throughout the campaign.

While he had an £85 million release clause written into his deal, Tottenham managed to secure Kudus for around £55m — a fee the Hammers were willing to accept in order to raise funds for reinvestment this summer.

Although many fans voiced their frustration over the move, Kudus kept his goodbye respectful and heartfelt, drawing reactions from several of his now-former teammates who appreciated his message.

West Ham stars react as Mohammed Kudus bids farewell to fans

Kudus posted on Instagram with a collection of photos from his time at the London Stadium and shared a heartfelt farewell message to supporters.

He wrote: “Pleasure to be a Hammer running life’s Marathon. Thank you for the warm seat through it all. Best wishes for the season & the future.”

Several of his former teammates showed support for the message, with Lucas Paqueta, Emerson Palmieri and Crysencio Summerville all liking the post.

Kudus impressed during his debut 2023/24 season at West Ham, registering 18 goals and providing 10 assists across all competitions. However, despite his electric start, his second campaign was plagued by inconsistency, and speculation over his future never went away.

His exit has left many fans disappointed, with West Ham legend Tony Cottee even calling for David Sullivan to leave the club in the wake of Kudus’ departure.

West Ham line up Harvey Elliott as potential Kudus replacement

The Hammers are expected to move swiftly in the transfer market to replace Kudus, and reports suggest they’ve already identified a possible successor.

Harvey Elliott has emerged as a reported target for West Ham, with an exit from Liverpool appearing increasingly likely.

Football Insider revealed that Elliott is now considered “certain” to leave Anfield this summer, and West Ham are among the clubs monitoring the situation. However, they face stiff competition, with at least five teams reportedly interested in the 22-year-old.

He has started just two Premier League matches under Liverpool boss Arne Slot, and with the chance to secure more regular minutes elsewhere, the London Stadium could prove an appealing destination.
