Lucas Paqueta sanctions revealed after latest FA charges
West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta is looking to focus on matters on the pitch following his spot-fixing ordeal.
It was confirmed in July Paqueta has been cleared of the spot-fixing charges after an independent regulatory commission found them to be “not proven” following a hearing between March and May this year.
The 28-year-old was accused of picking up four bookings for the purpose of financial gain after being charged by the FA in May 2024.
It was confirmed last month the FA wouldn’t appeal the verdict in Paqueta’s case after the written reasons for the commission’s decision were published.

What has Lucas Paqueta been charged with?
Despite being cleared of the spot-fixing charges, Paqueta has been waiting to hear what punishment he would receive after two counts of failing to co-operate with the investigation were proven.
The FA announced on Friday (31 October) the regulatory commission has imposed a reprimand and a warning as to the future conduct of the West Ham star.
The panel’s written reasons for its decision revealed Paqueta repeatedly answered with “no comment” in two interviews.
A fine was one of the punishment’s considered, but it’s noted the Brazil international was acting on the advice of his lawyers and had “limited knowledge of English”.
The financial and mental impact of the midfielder’s failed transfer to Manchester City is also noted as one of the reasons behind why a fine wasn’t deemed necessary.
Paqueta was close to joining Man City for £80million in the summer of 2023, but the move collapsed after news emerged of the FA’s investigation.
Could Paqueta sue the FA?
Finance expert Dan Plumley told Football Insider in August Paqueta would be able to sue the FA after being cleared of his spot-fixing charges.
It is understood Paqueta and West Ham are considering legal action against the governing body for damages over his collapsed move to Man City.

In terms of matters on the pitch, the Brazilian registered three goals in his opening four games of the campaign, but he has failed to get on the scoresheet since the 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in August.
Paqueta’s dip in form has coincided with West Ham’s on-field struggles, with the east London club claiming just one victory in all competitions so far this season.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will take on Newcastle United on Sunday (2 November) at the London Stadium.
West Ham currently sit second-bottom in the Premier League table and are four points from safety after nine games.
