Lucas Paqueta sends message to West Ham fans after new development
West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta believes they “deserved more” after their 1-1 Premier League draw with Bournemouth on Monday (December 16).
The 27-year-old scored West Ham’s 87th-minute opener from the penalty spot before Bournemouth forward Enes Unal scored a dramatic late equaliser just three minutes later.
Paqueta’s penalty marked his first goal contribution in his last eight Premier League games as West Ham sit in 14th with just 19 points from their opening 16 games.
Julen Lopetegui has plenty of options in central midfield but Paqueta’s presence has been almost constant, starting 13 of his 18 games across all competitions, scoring three goals, and providing zero assists, in a total of 1189 minutes of action.
West Ham star Lucas Paqueta hoping to turn club’s fortunes around after dismal start to the season
Paqueta is facing a potential ban from football after being charged by the Football Association (FA) with misconduct.
The charges stem from allegations that the Brazil international intentionally received yellow cards during matches to influence the betting market. Paqueta strongly denies the charges.
For now, the central midfielder is focused on the task at hand, taking to Instagram after the draw with Bournemouth to say: “We deserved more, thank you for everyone’s support, focus on the next challenge! Gloria e honra a ti sempre Jesus!” Meaning “Glory and honor to you always Jesus.”

West Ham face a Brighton side who haven’t won in their last four games on Saturday (December 21) with Lopetegui in dire need of a win.
The East London club have three games left in December alone, with a match against league leaders Liverpool on the 29th to round off their hectic festive period.
