Luciano Becchio sends passionate message to Leeds ahead of Norwich clash

By Harvey Byrne

Former striker Luciano Becchio has sent a passionate message to the Leeds squad on Twitter ahead of their important fixture against Norwich on Saturday afternoon.

The 33-year-old left the Yorkshire giants in 2013 in a move to Norwich for a swap deal which saw Steve Morison head in the other direction.

However, after five years at Leeds which saw him bag a fine 86 goals in 219 outings for the famous club it is clear he still holds strong feelings for the club.

Ahead of the Whites’ fixture against the Canaries on Saturday at Elland Road the ex-striker posted a message on his personal Twitter account urging the club to win, while saying “we” have to get the play-offs.

Becchio is currently playing in the Spanish third tier for CD Atletico Baleares, but he has often shared his thoughts on Leeds’ activity on social media across the campaign.

He will have undoubtedly been delighted with how the club were performing, but they now sit three points outside of the top six with two matches left and Garry Monk’s side will know they have to achieve a win against an eighth placed Norwich team if they are to have any chance of ending their 13-year wait for top-flight football.

In other Leeds news, Alan Irvine took a dig at the Whites’ fan base ahead of the weekend encounter.
