Luis Diaz and Ben Doak respond as Liverpool agree another new signing

Liverpool players reacted excitedly on social media as the club completed another huge deal for next season.

The Reds have been relentless in the transfer market this summer, with the club’s hierarchy fully backing Arne Slot to build on the momentum of last season’s title-winning campaign.

Following the early arrival of Jeremie Frimpong in June, Liverpool have since secured a record-breaking deal for Florian Wirtz and landed long-term target Milos Kerkez.

But the business hasn’t stopped there. With Darwin Nunez expected to depart Anfield in the coming weeks, the club have been actively searching for a new number nine to lead the line next season.

Liverpool were previously prepared to break the Premier League transfer record for Alexander Isak, but attention soon shifted elsewhere and now, the club have wrapped up their striker signing, much to the excitement of the dressing room.

Liverpool complete £79m deal for Hugo Ekitike

Liverpool officially confirmed on 23 July that they have completed the signing of Hugo Ekitike in a deal worth £79 million.

The club announced the move via Instagram, adding that the French striker is set to fly out to Hong Kong to join up with his new teammates during their pre-season tour.

The announcement drew a wave of support from current and former players, with Luis Diaz, Ben Doak, Giorgio Mamardashvili and ex-Red Rhian Brewster among those to like the post.

Ekitike had looked destined for a move to Newcastle just a week ago, but Liverpool acted swiftly after missing out on Isak and secured the 23-year-old’s signature at the last moment.

After a breakout season in which he scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists across all competitions, Ekitike had attracted serious interest from Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal, but Liverpool ultimately won the race.

Liverpool face Luis Diaz decision amid Bayern interest

While Diaz appeared to show support for Ekitike’s arrival, the Colombian winger may not be playing alongside him for long.

Football Insider report that Diaz could quit Liverpool with Bayern Munich set to return in their pursuit after having a initial bid rejected.

With two years remaining on his current contract and no negotiations yet underway for an extension, uncertainty continues to grow around his Anfield future.

Liverpool fans have called for Diaz to leave the club after it was reported he is open to an exit and the situation could escalate if Bayern return with a bid that matches the club’s valuation.
