Luis Diaz reacts as Liverpool post Darwin Nunez message

Luis Diaz has reacted after Liverpool posted message focused on teammate Darwin Nunez amid speculation around the future of the forward.

Although the Reds enjoyed an excellent season, claiming the Premier League title in Arne Slot‘s first season in charge, the Uruguayan endured a tough campaign from a personal perspective.

The 25-year-old found goals hard to come by, hitting the net just five times in 30 league appareances for the club.

Indeed, Nunez missed some big chances in front of goal for Liverpool over the course of the campaign, that in another season may have proven costly in the transfer race.

As a result, questions are growing about just how much longer the striker will actually be on the books at Anfield for.

Liverpool commemorate signing anniversary

With the summer transfer window now open, Liverpool are on the brink of breaching £200million worth of investment in new signings in the market, with more set to come.

Of course, the club will have to make sales in order to balance the books, and the Uruguayan is one who could be moved on.

Earlier this month, Football Insider revealed that Liverpool expect to sell Nunez in the window, as they look to strengthen their attacking actions.

Even so, on Saturday (14 June), the club used their official Instagram account to mark the three-year anniversary of the signing of the striker from Benfica.

In response, Diaz was among those who appeared keen to show their support for his teammate, as he liked that post.

Darwin Nunez exit feels inevitable

Football Insider Verdict

With the signings that Liverpool are making this summer, others are inevitably going to have to depart to make room in the squad and budget.

Having struggled to score at the rate a trophy-winning side would want from their centre-forward, Nunez looks an obvious option to be moved on.

That would pave the away for a more reliable goalscorer to come into the side and lift some of the burden on Mo Salah.

Bringing in that extra firepower would also boost the Reds’ chance of winning more than one trophy next season, as they will surely want to do.

Meanwhile, it is understood Diaz could also leave Liverpool for the right price this summer, so his future may also be worth keeping an eye in the coming months.
