‘Luis Diaz to Bayern reveal spells bad news for Liverpool’: ‘I’m convinced’

Luis Diaz appears to be moving very quickly toward the exit door at Liverpool.

The Colombia international has been at Anfield since joining from Porto in January 2022 and has since enjoyed great success.

Diaz has, to date, notched 41 goals and 23 assists in 148 appearances across all competitions to help the Reds lift last season’s Premier League title, alongside two EFL Cups, an FA Cup and a Community Shield.

However, Liverpool are performing major surgery on their squad this summer to consolidate their title win, and it’s understood Diaz is one player who could leave as a result.

Bayern Munich making progress with Luis Diaz

Barcelona and Bayern Munich are the two clubs most heavily linked with a move for Diaz, and following the latest update, it appears the latter has taken the lead in the race.

Sky‘s Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Bayern are in ‘constant talks’ with both Diaz and Liverpool, with the Bavarians making headway on personal terms and readying an improved offer after initially bidding €67million (£58m).

“We cannot confirm there is a breakthrough in negotiations between FC Bayern and Liverpool about Luis Diaz. I can only repeat what I have mentioned many times,” said Plettenberg (18 July).

“To my clear understanding, he is a candidate for sale for Liverpool and he has a price. Bayern Munich is informed about that and is in constant talks with Liverpool about Luis Diaz.

“They have had very positive talks with Luis Diaz and we also
have information that Bayern Munich has presented him with the idea of giving him a contract until at least 2029.

“So the most important as of right now is the agreement between FC Bayern and Liverpool. There was a first initial offer for around €67m and I am totally convinced that Bayern will improve that offer very, very soon.

“There is also concrete interest from Barcelona, but the problem is that they can pay the money for Luis Diaz, but they cannot register him and that is not very interesting for Diaz right now.

“So, if Bayern can proceed in terms of talks and negotiations with Liverpool, I am convinced that the deal for Luis Diaz can happen. Diaz right now is the clear priority, the No.1 target for the left wing.”

Liverpool to replace Diaz with Rodrygo as Hugo Ekitike move nears

Although supporters will be sad to see Diaz leave, it’s not like Liverpool aren’t working on an incredible replacement.

The 20-time English champions are currently being linked with Real Madrid and Brazil star Rodrygo, who has found himself somewhat marginalised at the Santiago Bernabeu in recent months.

It’s understood the two clubs have already held ‘preliminary talks’ regarding a possible move, which would see a player with 68 goals and 51 assists to his name for Los Blancos become the latest star at Anfield.

The rumours have gone down very well with Liverpool supporters, who are very keen to see their club get a deal done for the 24-year-old — who is a two-time Champions League-winner.

A forward line that includes Rodrygo alongside Mohamed Salah and Florian Wirtz is the stuff of dreams — and that’s without mentioning an accelerating move for Eintracht Frankfurt goalscorer Hugo Ekitike.

Manchester City and Arsenal might well be hard-pressed to rip the title from Liverpool’s grasp next season.
