Liverpool fans voiced their major frustrations at Luis Diaz following his performance against Plymouth Argyle in their FA Cup defeat.
Liverpool were unexpectedly knocked out of the FA Cup by Championship strugglers Plymouth in a 1-0 upset on 9 February.
Ryan Hardie’s second-half penalty was enough to send their side through and eliminate the Premier League leaders from the competition.
Liverpool fans were critical of Harvey Elliott’s display against the side, but Diaz, a senior player in a rotated team, also came under fire.
The Merseyside club struggled to create many chances after going behind and were unable to find an equaliser, ending their FA Cup hopes for the season.
Arne Slot can’t rely on rotated options in the Liverpool squad
Arne Slot made several changes to the side that was facing the team sitting bottom of the Championship.
This included players like Harvey Elliott, Joe Gomez, and Federico Chiesa, all getting rare starts.
However, not many impressed, with Liverpool fans criticising Chiesa for his performance in an opportunity to impress with Mohamed Salah rested.
The Dutch coach doesn’t often change his Premier League lineup, with key players such as Ryan Gravenberch, Virgil van Dijk, and Salah playing all 23 games this season.
After this display, it’s even more likely that fringe players may not get many opportunities moving forward.
Liverpool fans want Luis Diaz to be sold after performance
Diaz was linked to a move away from Liverpool last summer, with clubs such as Manchester City, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain all showing interest.
However, the club kept him in the squad despite the links to Anthony Gordon towards the end of the window.
Diaz’s performances have dried up recently, with his last Premier League goal coming in December against West Ham in a 5-0 win.
The Colombian has featured frequently for Slot, with 33 appearances this season. His goal tally overall has been impressive with 12 goals this term, but they often come in flurries rather than on consistent basis.
Following his latest performance, fans have shown their frustration and are calling for him to be sold in the next transfer window. One fan said “we should bite anyone’s hand off for a good offer” whilst another claimed that Sadio Mane was “never replaced” due to Diaz’s poor performances overall and that they should sell him.
