Luis Diaz, William Saliba reacts to Virgil van Dijk’s ‘special’ Liverpool message
Virgil van Dijk’s new message to the Liverpool supporters caught the attention of several Premier League stars during the international window.
The 33-year-old is set for another two seasons with the Reds, bringing his total time at Anfield to nine years unless he decides to put pen to paper on yet another new deal.
Of course, the same cannot be said for Trent Alexander-Arnold, who has already joined up with the Real Madrid squad ahead of the Club World Cup in America, bringing an end to his 20 years with the club.
With many changes being made ahead of next season, including the signing of Florian Wirtz, Football Insider understands that Liverpool are set for a record-breaking wage bill for next season.
It could also be a record-breaking season on the pitch if Arne Slot‘s first season in England is anything to go by, and Van Dijk has made sure to thank one of the most important components of the team.

Virgil van Dijk sends special message to Liverpool supporters
Taking to Instagram (14 June), Van Dijk wrote: “Almost forgot that this was the whole point… It’s an absolute privilege to play for you, Reds!
“Thanks to each one of you that helped make this season so special,” signed off with a love heart, gaining likes from Jeremie Frimpong, Luis Diaz, Harvey Elliott, and Ibrahima Konate.
Arsenal’s William Saliba, Bournemouth’s Justin Kluivert, and AC Milan’s Tammy Abraham also liked the post.
Arne Slot to continue building at Anfield
Football Insider verdict
Wirtz is set to be announced as the Reds’ next signing, and given his most recent season with Bayer Leverkusen, there are few complaints over the fee being paid this summer.
The 22-year-old talent notched 16 goals and 14 assists in 45 appearances, adding to his 37 contributions from the season before, becoming one of the most sought-after playmakers in Europe.
With the predictions of an eye-watering £400million-plus wage bill next season, Slot will need to do his best to get rid of some of the deadweight in the squad over the coming weeks.
Supporters are resigned to the idea of Darwin Nunez leaving Liverpool after struggling to break into the starting lineup, with Diogo Jota, Andy Robertson, and Kostas Tsimikas all linked with exits.

Football Insider understands that Diaz could push to leave Liverpool in a new u-turn at Anfield, leaving the Reds with a very limited, talented but limited, front line of attack.
Ian Darke, speaking to Liverpool News 247 (14 June), also suggested that the time has come for Harvey Elliott to find a new club as he game time continues to be limited at Anfield.
There are likely to be more deals to be announced at Anfield ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, so supporters need to keep their eyes peeled as the transfer window progresses.
