Luis Garcia has paid tribute to Liverpool for nailing down the summer signing of Naby Keita from RP Leipzig.
The Merseysiders announced last week they have agreed to sign the dynamic midfielder from the Bundesliga club next summer.
German news outlet Bild claim Liverpool will pay a fixed sum of £50million for Keita plus a premium of £18million to take the price to a total £68million.
Spaniard Garcia is convinced that his former team have landed a bargain despite the fact they are paying out a club transfer record to seal the capture of one of the world’s most in-demand midfielders.
The former attacking midfielder predicted he could be worth £275million in 12 months’ time.
“It’s great that you have already signed him. He is another weapon in the midfield,” Garcia told Bild. “If he continues, he could be three or four times the next summer.”
Keita will not move to Anfield until next summer, but Liverpool’s capture of the 22-year-old has been widely hailed as a major coup.
The club have also signed Mohammed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Andrew Robertson and Dominic Solanke in the summer window.
In other Liverpool transfer news, John Aldridge has given his verdict on the Reds’ summer business.
