Luiz and Aston Villa youngster tipped to explode under Gerrard after what Agbonlahor's 'heard'
Douglas Luiz and Jacob Ramsey will reach new heights under Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer admitted he thought Villa’s current midfield are “crying out for a bit of help”.
Gerrard oversaw his first training session in charge on Monday, as documented by a video on the club’s Twitter account.
Luiz stayed in the Midlands over the international break after missing Villa’s last two games with injury.
Ramsey, 20, has been with England Under-21s and laid on an assist in their 3-1 win over the Czech Republic.
Agbonlahor has identified the pair as benefiting the most from Gerrard’s arrival.

He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I’m very excited.
“I feel that in midfield they’ve been crying out for a bit of help in there and who better than Steven Gerrard to come in and get the midfield playing together.
“He can pick the right players, get more out of Douglas Luiz, push Jacob Ramsey further up the pitch to make runs into the final third.
“The midfielders must be absolutely buzzing to be working with a manager like that who is going to be hands-on on the training field, from what I’ve heard.
“He’s got that much experience, it’s just the perfect appointment.
“He’s got experience of the highest level of football as a player, never mind as a manager, so he’s going to have so much advice for these players.”
Ramsey has featured in 10 Premier League games this term and scored his first goal for Villa against Arsenal last month.
Luiz broke into the Brazil squad this year and was part of the side that won Olympic gold over the summer.
