Lukaku earns £40,000-a-week less than top Everton earner - report

By Alex Stevens

Romelu Lukaku earns £40,000-a-week less than Everton’s top earner Morgan Schneiderlin, according to a report.

The Daily Star, citing information from the 2017 version of Football Manager, claim that star man Lukaku is paid a salary of £80,000-a-week.

But the prolific striker, who has struck 20 goals in 29 matches this season, falls well short of teammate Schneiderlin, who is said to rake in £120,000-week at the Merseyside club.

The French midfielder joined Everton from Manchester United for an initial £20million, rising to £24million with add-ons, during the January transfer window.

Schneiderlin is one a host of expensive new additions in the last two windows, with the Toffees also spending £10million-plus fees to sign defender Ashley Williams, wing duo Yannick Bolasie and Ademola Lookman, and midfielder Idrissa Gueye.

But the ex-United player is comfortably the biggest earner, according to football management simulation game Football Manager, which claims to boast unrivalled club and real player data.

Schneiderlin’s reported salary is 50 per cent more than Lukaku, whose future at the club beyond this summer is in considerable doubt.

Reports had claimed the Belgium international was on the verge of signing a new contract but the player himself distanced himself from that possibility.
