Luke Shaw could lead Man United exodus after journalist’s talks update – pundit
Luke Shaw’s future at Man United is in doubt.
That is the view of former Premier League goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 26-year-old’s comments while on international duty.
Speaking to Sky Sports (27 March), Shaw said “it is always important to feel like you are wanted” after scoring in England’s 2-1 win over Switzerland.
The left-back has endured a difficult season at Old Trafford, where he has 15 months left on his contract.
According to ESPN‘s Rob Dawson (28 March), the Red Devils are ready to open contract negotiations with Shaw.
Robinson suggested the defender will not want to pen new terms until the next manager is appointed.
“It is an uncertain time for all of the players at Man United,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.
“It has been for some time. [Ole Gunnar] Solskjaer was the players’ friend rather than the manager.
“Bringing in another manager on an interim basis was a mistake. A lot of players don’t know where they are at right now and Luke Shaw is one of them. They don’t have clear heads and they are not focused. Where do they stand? The situation needs sorting out very quickly there.
“I understand Luke Shaw’s comments. There is no clarity in the heads at Manchester United.

“Players coming to the end of their contract don’t know whether to sign a new one. You could sign a five-year deal and a new manager could come in who doesn’t like you. You could shoot yourself in the foot.
“Shaw is speaking on the behalf of a lot of players there.”
