Luke Shaw faces extended spell out of Man United XI after latest – pundit
Kevin Campbell has claimed Luke Shaw faces a challenge to get back into the Man United XI after Tyrell Malacia’s “brilliant” display against Liverpool.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Arsenal and Everton striker is adamant Malacia, 23, will retain his place in Erik ten Hag’s side at Southampton on Saturday.
The summer signing from Feyenoord replaced Shaw in the starting XI as United beat Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford on Monday night.
As revealed by WhoScored, Malacia made five tackles, three clearances and one interception over the course of the 90 minutes.
According to Sky Sports (6 July), Man United signed the left-back from Feyenoord for a fee of £14.7million.
When asked by Football Insider if Shaw faces a challenge to win back his place in the starting XI, Campbell said: “Yeah he does.
“I thought Malacia was brilliant. You have got to remember that the whole back four was changed virtually. Malacia has great energy and a good left foot.
“He played [Mohamed] Salah very well. He also got forward when he could.
“I think he will prove to be a very, very good signing for what seem likes buttons now. He did not cost much from Feyenoord.
“You cannot imagine him coming out of the side this weekend.”

Shaw started for the Red Devils in losses against Brighton and Brentford.
He was an unused substitute against Liverpool on Monday.
In other news, Campbell has issued a ‘ridiculous’ Bruno Fernandes verdict as Man United controversy is analysed.
