Hamilton star Darian MacKinnon is eyeing a match-up against Celtic skipper and his doppelganger Scott Brown when the duo are set to battle it out in midfield on Tuesday evening.
The Hoops will host Hamilton at Celtic Park but the Accies midfielder is hoping he will come out on top against Brown, who he is compared to regularly because of his looks and style of play.
MacKinnon also admitted he “looked up” to Brown and has identified him as a key player for Celtic because of his good form so far throughout the campaign.
“I wish I had his [Scott Brown’s] money! But he’s also a player I’ve always looked up to. I’m not saying we’ve got similar styles but he gets stuck in, he wins the ball back for them and uses it simply,” said MacKinnon, as reported by the Daily Record.
“That’s his job and that’s also my job so he’s definitely a guy I look to emulate. He’s having a great season but you try not to think about a player’s good form because it’s just another guy.”
Celtic remain unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership and Hamilton are hoping to end their run of 14 games without a loss on Tuesday evening.
It will be a tough task after Hamilton were thrashed 8-1 by Celtic last January.
Brendan Rodgers has since strengthened the side but Hamilton go into the clash in relatively good form, picking up just one defeat in their last 10 games.
Eight of those fixtures have ended in a draw and Hamilton would no doubt be pleased to take a point from Celtic in their mid-week Premiership clash.
Celtic currently lead the league table by eight points and they still have three games in hand on second-placed Old Firm rivals, Rangers.
Hamilton are down in 8th place but a win could see them move into 6th position ahead of Kilmarnock and Ross County.
In other Celtic news, Everton should sign this Hoops star in January.
