Maeda, Scott Brown react as Celtic exit confirmed – ‘Thank you for everything’

Daizen Maeda and Scott Brown reacted to the news of a brand-new exit emerging from Celtic ahead of the summer transfer window.

Brendan Rodgers and his backroom staff are preparing for the next few months, and the 52-year-old must be backed by the owners if he is to avoid frustrations like the previous transfer window.

The manager was clearly upset by the decision to allow Kyogo Furuhashi to leave for Rennes, only for the Japan international not to be replaced during the winter, leaving the club a striker down.

Due to the differences when it comes to transfer expectations at Celtic Park, some supporters are concerned a change of manager could occur, with Chelsea’s interest in Rodgers “no surprise” according to Glen Johnson.

While the summer transfer window is not yet open, the Hoops appear to have gotten business started already, with the club confirming an exit just days after the 2024/25 campaign finished.

Scott Bain leaves Celtic after seven years

Taking to Instagram (29 May), the official club account wrote: “Celtic can confirm that goalkeeper Scott Bain has left the club after more than seven years as a Celt!

During his time at Paradise, Scott won seven league titles, four League Cups, and three Scottish Cups. Thank you for everything, Bainy.”

Maeda and Brown were joined by Paulo Bernardo, Alistair Johnston, Anthony Ralston, and Greg Taylor in liking the post, with the comments flooded by passionate supporters wishing him well.

Football Insider verdict

Ally McCoist suggested to Football Insider that Rodgers could seek another Celtic exit due to the lack of competition from Old Firm rivals Rangers, but that may no longer be an issue next season.

Ibrox is expecting a takeover from 49ers Enterprises, who should help to Gers rebuild the squad, bring new ideas and ambitions to the club, and get them competing for the Scottish Premiership again.

If the Hoops want to remain dominant in Scotland, however, they must buy multiple reinforcements, especially if they are to improve on their Champions League run this season.

Rodgers’ side were moments from going to extra time against Bayern Munich in the round of 32, only to be crushed by an Alphonso Davies equaliser in added time at the Allianz Arena.

With Kasper Schmeichel still dominating in between the sticks, Bain’s exit will not be too much of a concern, but there are several areas that need to be improved before the Hoops can aim for more.
